Even 20 years after the first steps to solve the problem of Squeak&Rattle noises in the car the topic is still very alive. The reason for this is that the development of new materials and composites is going on very fast in- creasing the risk of material incompa- tibility with respect to stick-slip. A customer feels well in the car only if the perceived quality corresponds to his expectations. The perceived quality is not a directly measurable quantity, since it reflects the sum of all sensations of people. Measureable quality by itself must meet the highest requirements in the car. Examples for this are gaps, colours, homogenity of structures and grains e.g. for leather, artificial leather and textiles.  These quantities can be measured using physical parameters. The buying decision of the customer and the market success of the product correlates with the objective quality, the price and the perceived quality.

Maintenance solutions

for bridges&windmills

A new method is introduced for preventive maintenance of bridges and windmills by a special analysis of the resonance frequency and observation of changes over the years using ResoCable®. Currently for bridges visual methods are used to check possible damages. The disadvantage is that visible damages are usually detected in the very late phase. The ResoCable® Test is quick, in-situ and cost effective to get a reliable judgement of the condition of the bridge and recently also of windmills.

Volume-Measurement

of engines

The Volume-Meter is a new method for Combustion Chamber Capacity measurements on the completed engine via the spark plug hole using acoustic methods. The classical method of using a burette and the archimedes method takes a lot of time, is a complicated procedure and has the disadvantage that the object gets in touch with the liquid and needs to dry. Using the Volume-Meter takes only 2 seconds and is high precicion and easy.

This measurement system was especially developed for the cosmetics and detergent industry. The speciality is that a real arm is used to measure the effect of beauty products,, cosmetics,  detergents and their change over time on real skin. The physical quantity is friction and stick-slip using very low contact forces.
